WTEN: Buckeyes Wrap Up Action at Virginia Tech Fall Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s tennis team concluded play at the Virginia Tech Fall Invitational with two singles flight titles.
In the Flight B final, junior Angela DiPastina defeated Lisa Wilkinson of Winthrop, 6-3, 6-1, to claim the title and record a 4-0 singles mark for the weekend.
Junior Julie Blackmore, from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., had an exceptional showing, reaching finals matches in Flight C singles and Flight B doubles. She defeated freshman teammate Cami Hubbs of Omaha, 6-4, 6-4, to win the flight C title. Blackmore and doubles teammate Paloma Escobedo, a native of Houston, dropped a close match in the flight B doubles championship, 8-6.
Sophomore Christina Keesey, from Northfield, Minn., went 3-1 in singles Flight A, advancing to the final before falling to Yevgeniya Stupak of East Tennessee State. Keesey, along with DiPastina, also took third place in Flight B doubles.
Freshmen Escobedo and Hubbs each continued to excel in their second collegiate tournament. Escobedo advanced to the quarterfinals in Flight A singles while Hubbs lost her first collegiate singles match against Blackmore in the Flight C singles final and now is 8-1 this spring. Hubbs also reached the doubles Flight A semifinals with Ally Mueller, narrowly falling, 8-6.
