Women’s Tennis Completes Day Two of Princeton Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team faced Yale and Rutgers on day two of the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J. The Buckeyes won 4-of-5 matches vs. the Bulldogs and were 5-2 against the Scarlet Knights. The tournament is a hidden dual format, and no team scoring is kept.
Leading the way for the Buckeyes were freshman Christina Keesey (Northfield, Minn./Northfield), sophomore Julie Voss (San Angelo, Texas/St. Stephen’s Academy) and senior Kristin Messmer (Lutherville, Md./McDonogh), who each were 2-0 in singles on the day.
Keesey, in her first collegiate singles match, downed Lillian Nguyen of Yale, 6-2, 7-5, She also beat Rutgers’ Christine Tran, 6-2, 6-0. Keesey was a team-best 4-0 in doubles Friday at the Princeton Invitational.
Voss, who was 3-0 in doubles Friday, beat Yale’s Sarah Lederhandler (6-1, 6-3) and Dana Gordon of Rutgers (6-3, 6-1).
Messmer topped Yale’s Christine Alford (6-4, 6-0) and Laura Edelschein of Rutgers (6-0, 6-2) in straight sets.
Sunday, the Buckeyes wrap up play at the tournament with singles matches vs. Buffalo at 9 a.m. and the host Princeton Tigers at 11:30 a.m.
