COLUMBUS, Ohio – Karen Dennis, Ohio State women’s track and field head coach
On being named head coach of the women’s team
“I think it is great that Ohio State has chosen to separate the men’s and women’s programs. I look forward to being a strong leader for these young women and being a mentor to young women that will one day be leaders themselves.”
On track and field at Ohio State
“Ohio State has a great tradition. There are so many great teams here and I’m proud to be a part of that. I want to make Ohio State the premier team in the state and a top team nationally.”
On being back in the Big Ten as a head coach
“It is great to be back in the Big Ten. The Big Ten is one of the best athletic conferences in all sports, so being apart of that again is a great feeling.”
Robert Gary, Ohio State men’s track and field head coach
On the 2007 team
“We have some great student-athletes in this program right now. We have the cornerstones and some great pieces to this team in place. That is a credit to Russ Rogers.”
On the student-athletes
“The people are great at Ohio State. There is no ceiling to what these kids in this program, or the program as a whole, can do. There is no greater feeling then having 20-30 people all working together for a common goal.”
On being named head coach
“I have always been a track guy. In high school I never ran Cross Country. I was also able to represent the United States on the track and in the Olympics, so this is a great honor.”
