COLUMBUS, Ohio – The last three editions of the Jesse Owens Track Classic have featured deep and talented high school fields. After welcoming nearly 80 Ohio scholastic boy’s and girl’s teams in 2005, this year 65 state high school squads are scheduled to compete Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The high school portion of the meet schedule, which begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with three field events and the 4×800-meter relay on the track, contributes to a grand total of nearly 650 athletes set to compete in the 21st running of the Jesse Owens Classic.
Columbus-area schools will match up against squads from all regions of the state during the morning and afternoon Saturday. After that, the college and post-collegiate events get into full swing with the college open 4×100-meter relay at 5 p.m.
