OSU Women’s Swimming and Diving Announces 2006-07 Schedule – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s swimming and diving head coach Jeanne Fleck announced the team’s 2006-07 regular season schedule Wednesday. Highlighting the new season is the second-annual Ohio State University Swimming and Diving Invitational and five Big Ten match-ups, two of which will be hosted at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
The Buckeyes open the second season in the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Nov. 4. The meet is the team’s Big Ten opener, competing against Illinois at 1 p.m. The Scarlet and Gray then hits the road for a two-meet weekend. OSU travels to Ann Arbor, Mich., Nov. 10 for the 17th meeting with the Michigan Wolverines at 4 p.m. The team heads to East Lansing, Mich., Nov. 11 to compete again the Michigan State Spartans at 9 a.m.
Returning home, the Buckeyes welcome the Toledo Rockets Nov. 17 at 5 p.m. at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion as the last dual meet before the second-annual OSU Invitational, set for Fri.-Sun., Dec. 1-3. It is an all-day event, with preliminary qualifying in the morning and finals in the evening. Following the Invitational, the Buckeyes will have a winter training week in Columbus before breaking for the holidays.
Ohio State will open the 2007 portion of the schedule on the road Jan. 6 when they travel to Athens, Ohio, to compete against the Ohio University Bobcats at 1 p.m. The Buckeyes return to a two-meet homestand against the Marshall Thundering Herd and the Northwestern Wildcats on Jan. 12 and 13, respectively. The team has its final meet before the postseason with a trip to State College, Pa., to face the Penn State Nittany Lions, Jan. 19.
Postseason action begins and ends in Minneapolis, Minn. The 2007 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships take place Wed.-Sat., Feb. 7-10. The divers then compete at the Zone Diving Championships, with dates and locations still to be determined. Qualified swimmers and divers return to the University of Minnesota for the 2007 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships March 8-10.
