Ohio State Gymnast Represents U.S. National Team in Belgium – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s Jimmy Wickham (So., Gulfport, Miss./Planet Gymnastics) was one of five U.S. gymnasts who competed at the 2006 World Cup event at the Flanders Sports Arena in Ghent, Belgium, Saturday-Sunday. Athletes from 30 countries for the men and 21 countries for the women competed at this World Cup contest.
The preliminary rounds of the individual apparatus competition were held Saturday. Wickham placed 11th on floor with a 14.650 during the qualifying session. The sophomore did not place high enough to advance on floor, but qualified for finals on vault after finishing third on the apparatus with a 16.025. His score was just .100 behind second place. At the finals on Sunday, Wickham placed seventh on vault with a score of 15.212.
Other U.S. gymnasts included Justin Spring from the University of Illinois, Alicia Sacramone of Winchester, Mass., Hilary Mauro of Shrewsbury, Mass., and Ashley Priess of Hamilton, Ohio.
