COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s and women’s track and field teams had their final day of competition Saturday in the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind. Lenny Jatsek, the 2006 Big Ten champion in the weight throw, won the same event Friday with his throw of 72 feet, 5 3/4 inches, which served as a career-best and automatically qualify him for the 2006 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Not to be out done, Veronica Jatsek, Lenny’s younger sister, took home first place in the shot put Saturday with a throw of 48-11 ½. Fellow Buckeye Janine Zylinski followed Jatsek with a throw of 47-5 1/4.
Lenny Jatsek’s heave in the weight also was third best in Ohio State history.
The Buckeyes conclude the 2006 indoor season at the 2006 NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. March 10-11. Ohio State will send eight athletes to the championships as well as two relay teams.
