Three Ohio State Swimmers Finish Second Day of NCAA Meet – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Buckeye swimmers Nicole Maglich, Griet Buelens and Gulsah Gunenc competed on the second day of the 2006 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga., Friday.
Maglich, a junior from Sarasota, Fla. (Sarasota), had the top Buckeye finish for the day. Competing in the 200-yard freestyle, she recorded a time of 1:49.20 to finish 35th. Buelens, a sophomore from Kapelle, Belgium (Ursulinen Mechelen) joined Maglich in the event, finishing 52nd with a time of 1:50.70.
Gunenc, a junior from Edirne, Turkey (Edirne), was the only Buckeye competitor in the 100-yard butterfly. She recorded a time of 54.95 to finish 37th. The time was three-hundredths of a second from the Ohio State school record time that Gunenc recorded at the 2006 Big Ten Championships.
Gunenc and Buelens return tomorrow for the final day of the NCAA championships. Both swimmers will be competing in the 200-yard butterfly event.
