Trio of Buckeyes Claim All-America Honors at 2006 NCAA Indoor Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Buckeyes posted All-American performances Friday in the first day of the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Randall Tyson Complex in Fayetteville Ark. Overall, the women’s team is tied for 20th with five team points, while the men are tied for 34th with two team points.
Senior thrower Keturah Lofton (Zanesville, Ohio) continued a remarkable comeback season by gaining her second indoor All-America honor in the weight throw. Lofton, a medical redshirt in 2005, placed eighth overall with a heave of 66 feet, 3 ¼ inches. Lofton reached her All-American measure on her first throw of the finals.
Jessica Stringer (Williamsburg, Ind.), the reigning Big Ten women’s indoor and outdoor high jump champion, tied the Ohio State indoor high jump record Friday with leap of 6-0. Stringer cleared 6-0 on her fifth and final jump to secure a fifth-place national finish and qualify for her first All-America honors. Stringer now shares the OSU indoor high jump record with former Buckeye All-American Tami Smith (1999-2002), who topped the 6-foot barrier as a senior in 2002.
For the men, senior distance runner Brian Olinger (Fresno, Ohio), a 2005 All-American in the indoor 5,000 meters,came in seventh in the same event this year with an All-America time of 14:00.06.
