Ohio State’s Stacy Hibma Earns Big Ten Softball Player of the Week Honor – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Ohio State senior catcher Stacy Hibma has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Hibma was named to the all-tournament team of the Hilton Las Cruces Invitational last weekend after helping the Buckeyes to a 4-1 record and runner-up finish.
Hibma (Buena Park, Calif./Valley Christian) batted .421 last weekend(8-for-19) and played in every inning during the tournament. She hit a home run in OSU’s 11-9 win over Utah and finished the tournament with seven RBI. In an 8-7 win over Colorado State, Hibma had a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning with OSU trailing 7-6, then scored from first on a triple to tie the score at 7-7, forcing extra innings. The Big Ten honor is the first for Hibma.
In addition, senior Chelsea Baker (Gahanna, Ohio/DeSales) was named to the all-tournament team. Baker went 3-for-3 and had an RBI in OSU’s win against Portland State. She also had two home runs in the tournament, those coming against Utah and Texas-San Antonio. For the weekend, Baker hit .421, scored seven runs and drove in five.
The Buckeyes travel to DeLand, Fla., this weekend to face Stetson and Central Florida.
