Columbus, Ohio – Former Ohio State All-American Rob Myers finished third in the 1,500-meter run Saturday at the 2005 USA Track and Field National Championships at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Brian Olinger, a junior distance runner for Ohio State, also posted a Top 5 standing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Myers, who also took third at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 1,500m, crossed the finish line in 3:42.27 behind winner Alan Webb, a 2004 Olympian, who timed 3:41.97.
Three runners with Ohio State ties qualified for the finals of the steeple. Olinger, who redshirted the collegiate outdoor season in 2005, set a personal-best of 8:28.44 to take fourth place. Olinger’s time ranks third all-time at OSU. Daniel Lincoln and Anthony Famiglietti, both 2004 Olympians, finished 1-2 in 8:17.27 and 8:20.49, respectively.
In the field, Shelaine Larson, who completed her collegiate career two weeks ago at the NCAA championships, placed 12th in the hammer at 194 feet, 9 inches.
On Friday, Joel Brown, a three-time All-American at Ohio State from 2000-04, placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles finals in 13.28. Allen Johnson won the event in 12.99.
Sunday, Rosalind Goodwin and Shayla Moore, who completed their OSU careers this season, compete in the triple jump. Dan Taylor, a nine-time All-American and two-time national champion in his Buckeye career from 2000-04, will throw in the shot put.
