Ohio State Women’s Tennis Earns 5-1 Road Win at Saint Louis – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team picked up its first road win of the season by downing Saint Louis University, 5-1, Sunday at the Sunset Tennis Center in St. Louis, Mo. Ohio State improved to 5-8 (0-0 Big Ten) on the spring season while the Billikens, who were forced by injuries to play with only four players, fell to 6-9.
Kristin Messmer (Soph., Lutherville, Md./McDonogh), Lindsay Bryan (Sr., New Orleans, La./Ursuline Academy) and Silvia Prajescu (Fr., Dollard-Des-Orneaux, Quebec/Des-Sources) all won singles matches for the Buckeyes.
Messmer downed Tara Grant, 7-5, 6-2, at the No. 2 position, while Bryan and Prajescu both won in 6-0, 6-0 shutouts, over Rachel McCullagh at No. 3 and Tina Grasso at No. 4, respectively.
Also picking up wins for the Buckeyes were Caitlin O’Keefe (Fr., Troy, Mich./Troy) and Emily Howard (Jr., Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit), who won by forfeit at the Nos. 5 and 6 spots, respectively.
Doubles matches were not played.
The Buckeyes return home next week to play host to Texas Christian at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Jesse Owens West Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio.
