Ohio State Softball Drops Buzz Classic Championship Game to Iowa, 5-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

MARIETTA, Ga. – The Ohio State softball team’s seven-game winning streak came to an end Sunday in the championship game of the Buzz Classic as Iowa (15-3) topped the Buckeyes (11-6), 5-0, in Marietta, Ga. Ohio State had advanced to the championship game with wins over Mississippi State and host No. 19 Georgia Tech Sunday, but the Buckeyes were denied in their quest to duplicate their 2002 Buzz Classic championship.
Sophomore Megan Schwab (Glendale, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain) was named to the Buzz Classic all-tournament team. She batted .435 (10-for-23) during the weekend with five home runs and 11 RBI.
OSU freshman Nicole Gragson (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson) pitched her longest stint of the season with six innings against the Hawkeyes. Junior Andrea Tribuzi (Plano, Texas/Plano East) came on in relief to pitch a perfect seventh inning.
Schwab, sophomore Nycole Koyano (Walnut, Calif./Walnut), sophomore Jamee Juarez (La Puente, Calif./Wilson) and senior Natalie Hales (Canton, Ohio/Eastern Michigan) all singled for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State will return to action next weekend when it hosts Evansville. Day and time are yet to be determined.
