Louisville Knocks of Ohio State Women’s Tennis, 4-3 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team was beaten by Louisville, 4-3, in a neutral site match Sunday in Columbia, Mo. Louisville, playing with just five players because of injury, improved its record to 13-5 (1-0 Conference USA), while Ohio State fell to 4-8 (0-0 Big Ten). Lindsey Adams (Sr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) led the Buckeyes with a win in at the top of both the singles and doubles lineups.
The Buckeyes jumped out to the lead by sweeping doubles. At the No. 1 position, Adams and Sonia Ruzimovsky (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) beat Kelly Taylor and Natalie Laszkowski, 8-5. At the No. 2 spot, Buckeyes Emily DeCamilla (Sr., Sacramento, Calif./Maryland) and Meredith Vincent (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Va. Tech) clinched the doubles point by downing Robin White and Suzanna Gracanin by the same margin.
The Cardinals fought back in singles, however, taking four victories and the match. At the top of the lineup, Adams beat Stewart in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, but that was all the Buckeyes could muster. White swept DeCamilla, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 2, while Taylor out-battled Vincent at No. 3 in three sets, 7-5, 0-6, 6-3. Gracanin kept the momentum going for the Cardinals by downing Ruzimovsky, 7-6 (1), 6-4, before Laszkowski edged Ohio State’s Caitlin O’Keefe (Fr., Troy, Mich./Troy) in three sets, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (5), 6-0, to clinch the match.
The Buckeyes return to action at 6 p.m. tonight when they take on the Saint Louis University Billikens in St. Louis, Mo.
