Two Buckeye Swimmers Qualify for 2005 NCAA Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

Two members of the Ohio State women’s swimming team have qualified for the 2005 NCAA Championships in West Lafayette, Ind., March 15-19. Nicole Maglich and Griet Buelens will be swimming a combined five events.
Maglich, a junior from Sarasota, Fla. (Sarasota), will be competing in three events. In the 200-yard freestyle Maglich is ranked 38th in the nation with a time of 1:47.97 recorded at the 2005 Big Ten Championships. For the 500-yard freestyle, Maglich recorded a 4:46.16 at the Big Ten championships, ranking her 23rd nationally. Maglich’s final event will be the 200-yard butterfly. She qualified with a time of 2:01.01 at the conference championship and is No. 46 nationally.
Joining Maglich in the 200-yard butterfly is Buelens (Fr., Kapelle, Belgium/Ursulinen Mechelen), the 2005 Big Ten Champion in the event. Buelens clocked in at 1:59.09 during the final to claim the Big Ten title and the No. 19 spot in the nation. Buelens also qualified in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.31.
Ohio State divers will first travel to West Lafeyette for the NCAA Zone Regional Qualifiers to attempt to earn a spot at the NCAA championships, March 11-13. The Buckeyes will then compete at the 2005 NCAA Championships in West Lafayette, Ind. March 15-19.
