Ohio State Women’s Tennis Falls to San Diego State, 7-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team lost to No. 33 San Diego State Tuesday, 7-0, in San Diego California. The Buckeyes ended non-conference play with a record of 5-10, while the Aztecs improved to 10-5.
San Diego State opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matches. At the No. 1 position, San Diego State’s duo of Nina Spaeth and Indra Erichson beat Lindsey Adams (Sr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) and Sonia Ruzimovsky (Soph., Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech), 8-5. At No. 2, the Aztecs’ Alesya Vidov and Dita Hauerlandova topped Emily DeCamilla (Sr., Sacramento, Calif./Maryland) and Meredith Vincent (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Virginia Tech), 8-4, and San Diego State’s Andrea Hermansen and Eliska Krausova downed Ohio State’s Caitlin O’Keefe (Fr., Troy, Mich./Troy) and Silvia Prajescu (Fr., Dollard-Des-Orneaux/Des-Sources), 8-4, at the No. 3 spot.
In singles, Spaeth extended the Aztecs’ lead by beating Prajescu at the No. 6 position, 6-1, 6-2, then Haurlandova defeated DeCamilla, 7-5, 6-0, at the No. 2 spot.
Erichsen downed Vincent at the No. 3 spot, 6-4, 6-2 to earn the clinching victory.
Also in singles action, Vidov beat Adams, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1, Krausova topped Kristin Messmer (Soph., Lutherville, Md./McDonogh), 6-4, 6-1, at No. 5, and Hermansen beat O’Keefe, 7-6, 6-3, at No. 4 to close out the match.
The Buckeyes return to action at 8 p.m. EST Friday against Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, before traveling to face Minnesota at 11 a.m. EST Sunday in Minneapolis, Minn.
