Ohio State Finishes 32nd at the 2005 NCAA Swimming & Diving Meet – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nicole Maglich, Griet Buelens and Julie Broms wrapped up the 2005 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships with a 32nd-place finish. The three women recorded 10 points during the three-day meet.
Maglich, a native of Sarasota, Fla. (Sarasota), opened the competition Thursday for the Buckeyes with a 27th-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle event. She recorded a time of 4:47.93. Maglich returned Friday in the 200-yard freestyle, clocking in at 1:49.53 to place 34th. Maglich finished the meet with a 37th-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.30.
Maglich was joined by freshman Griet Buelens (Kapelle, Belgium/Ursulinen Mechelen) in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly events. In the freestyle, Buelens placed 51st with a time of 1:51.33. In the 200-yard butterfly, in which Buelens won the 2005 Big Ten Title, she placed 33rd after clocking in at 2:01.86.
Julie Broms was the Buckeye lone diving representative and competed in the 1- and 3-meter events. On the opening night of the championships, Broms placed 16th in the 1-meter, scoring 263.60 points. The following night, Broms accumulated a season-high 477.25 points to place ninth in the 3-meter.
The Buckeyes finished the competition 32nd with 10 points. Georgia won the team championship with 609.5 points, followed by Auburn with 492 points.
