No. 20 TCU downs Ohio State women’s tennis in 5-2 decision – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team lost to No. 20 TCU, 5-2, Saturday at the Jesse Owens West Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio. The Horned Frogs won their fourth straight match and improved to 10-1, while the Buckeyes fell to 5-9. Caitlin O’Keefe and Sonia Ruzimovsky won singles matches for Ohio State, playing its only home match of the month.
The Buckeyes fell behind in the match after losing two of three doubles tilts. TCU’s No. 52-ranked tandem of Story Tweedie-Yates and Ana Cetnik beat Lindsey Adams (Sr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) and Ruzimovsky (Soph., Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech), 8-3, at the No. 1 position and Horned Frogs Paige Brown and Andrea Morgado downed O’Keefe (Fr., Troy, Mich./Troy) and Emily Howard (Jr., Akron, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit), 8-2, at No. 3. Buckeye duo Emily DeCamilla (Sr., Sacramento, Calif./Maryland) and Meredith Vincent (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Virginia Tech) closed out doubles action with an 8-3 victory at the No. 2 spot over Helena Besovic and Karla Mancinas.
In singles, O’Keefe swept Morgado at the No. 6 position, 6-3, 6-4, and Ruzimovsky picked up her team-leading ninth dual match victory when Cetnik retired with an injury at No. 4.
Their efforts were not enough, however, as TCU won at the other four singles spots. No. 17-ranked Tweedie-Yates beat Adams, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 1 position. No. 52-ranked Besovic topped DeCamilla, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 2, Kewa Nichols downed Vincent, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 3 and Gloriann Lopez stopped Kristin Messmer (Soph., Lutherville, Md./McDonogh), 6-4, 6-3, at No. 5. The Buckeyes are off next weekend. They return to action at 2 p.m. March 22 with a match at San Diego State in San Diego, Calif.
