Ohio State Women’s Swimming Team Inks Four Recruits – Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team has inked four student-athletes for the 2006-07 season. Whitney McLellan, Jill Lockhart, Colleen Schweitzer and Megan Alexander signed a National Letter of Intent and Tender during the early signing period. McLellan and Alexander both hail from the Columbus area, while Lockhart is from Indiana and Schweitzer is from California.
McLellan, a native of New Albany, Ohio, has recorded nine school records at New Albany High School. A senior national qualifier in the 100-yard breaststroke, she also is an Ohio and Connecticut high school record holder in the same event. McLellan is a high school All-American in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley.
Alexander also is from the Columbus area. While at Worthington Kilbourne High School, she earned High School All-America Honors three times in the 100-yard breaststroke. A state runner-up last year in the 100-yard breaststroke, Alexander holds school, pool and program records. Alexander also is a two-time Scholastic All-American through USA Swimming.
Lockhart will join the Buckeyes from Muncie, Ind. While at Yorktown High School, she was an All-American her freshman, sophomore and junior years. A state runnerup in the 100-yard butterfly both her first and second year at Yorktown, Lockhart also was a runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle her freshman year. She holds school records in the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly and is a team captain her final year at Yorktown.
Schweitzer, of Highlands Park, Colo., joins the Buckeyes as a 5A state champion in the 100-yard breaststroke. She took third-place in the same event representing Highlands Ranch High School at the state championship meet both her freshman and sophomore years. A high school All-American in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard medley relay, Schweitzer was named to the 2005 Women’s Scholastic All-American Team. With her club team, Highlands Ranch Aquatics, she has attended the United State Open in 2003, the Senior Nationals in 2004 and the World Championship Trials in 2005.
