Women’s Volleyball Meyer, Stevens and Main Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Ohio State women’s volleyball players have been named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced. Middle blocker Danielle Meyer (So., Cincinnati, Ohio) was tabbed a Second Team Academic All-District IV selection and outside hitter Ami Stevens (So., Centerburg, Ohio) and setter Marisa Main (Jr., Louisville, Ky.) earned Third Team Academic All-District IV honors.
Meyer leads Ohio State in points per game (5.33), kills (4.84) and blocks (.95) per game. She ranks second in digs (2.56) per game and is second in ace serves with 25. Stevens ranks first on the squad in digs (2.96) per game and is second in points (3.93) and kills (3.50). Main is averaging 12.65 assists per game and has a team-high .373 hitting percentage. She ranks fourth on the team in digs (2.35) per game.
To be considered for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing, own a grade-point average of 3.2 and must be a starter or key reserve for their team. All first team selections from each of the eight districts are now eligible for Academic All-America honors. Sports information directors nominate eligible athletes from their schools who are named to district teams prior to being voted upon on the national level. CoSIDA has been selecting Academic All-America teams since 1952.
The 19th-ranked Buckeyes are 16-7 overall and 9-5 in the Big Ten Conference in fifth place. Ohio State plays at Illinois tonight and at Purdue Saturday before returning home for matches against Iowa Friday, Nov. 18 and No. 17 Minnesota Saturday, Nov. 19.
