Buckeye Swimmer Qualifies for Olympics in 100-Meter Butterfly – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State swimmer Gulsah Gunenc, a sophomore-to-be, qualified to represent Turkey at the 2004 Olympic Games in two events. She set the Turkish national record in the 100-meter butterfly (1:02.35) during the weekend of July 2-4 at the Turkish National Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. Earlier this year, Gunenc qualified for the 200-meter butterfly with a national record time of 2:17.53.
Gunenc, a native of Edirne, Turkey (Edirne Anatoliano), will compete for the Turkish National Team Aug. 13-29 at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Swimming events at the Olympics are scheduled to take place Aug. 14-21.
