Women’s Lacrosse Regina Oliver Named To United States Developmental Team For 2004-2005 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s lacrosse student-athlete Regina Oliver (Jr., Pottstown, Pa.) has been named to the United States Developmental Team for 2004-2005. The 24-member team was announced Sunday by Barb Jordan, the Chair of the U.S. National Teams selection committee. The team was selected after tryouts at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. The squad is under the direction of Sue Murphy, Head Coach of the U.S. Developmental Team and the head lacrosse coach at the University of Richmond.
The team will participate in events leading up to the 2005 International Federation of Women’s Lacrosse Associations (IFWLA) World Cup, which will be held at the United States Naval Academy. The trials for the 2005 World Cup will take place in the fall of 2004.
This past season, Oliver was an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/US Lacrosse Third Team All-American. She was the Buckeyes’ top scorer this season with 36 points with team-highs of 25 goals and 11 assists. Oliver also was the team leader in ground balls (54), draw controls (28) and caused turnovers (46). A three-time American Lacrosse Conference all-conference selection, she was the league statistical leader in ground balls (3.86 per game) and caused turnovers (3.29) and ranked fifth in draw controls (2.00) this past season. Oliver ranked second nationally in ground balls and caused turnovers.
