COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Track and Field team opened first-day action at the 2004 Brutus Hamilton Invitational Friday evening at the University of California’s Edwards Stadium in Berkeley, Calif. Several Buckeyes competed in the opening day events, which featured the men’s and women’s hammer throw.
Junior Keturah Lofton, who set an Ohio State and Big Ten record last week with a throw of 200 feet in the women’s hammer, placed second with a regional qualifying 188-6 mark Friday afternoon. Fellow throwers Tiffany Davis and Katy Houser also participated in the hammer as Davis joined Lofton in the Top 5 with a fourth-place 181-5, while Houser notched a 12th-place finish at 159-11.
The men were represented by Bryan Duby as the senior posted Ohio State’s third Top 5 standing on the day with a season-best 181-0 in the hammer.
The Buckeyes are set to compete in full-day action Saturday at 10 a.m. (PDT).
