Indiana Bests Women’s Tennis Buckeyes, 4-3 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team lost another close match on the road, falling to Indiana, 4-3, Saturday in Bloomington, Ind., at the IU Tennis Center. The loss snapped Ohio State’s two-match winning streak over the Hoosiers (10-6, 2-1 Big Ten) and dropped the Buckeyes’ record to 7-9 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten.
The No. 34 Hoosiers swept doubles competition, which would prove to be the deciding factor in the match against the No. 58 Buckeyes.
In singles, Ohio State got victories from Erica Fisk (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) over Linda Tran, 6-4, 7-6, at No. 2, Emily DeCamilla (Jr., Sacramento, Calif./Maryland), who swept Laura McGaffigan, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 4 and Lindsey Adams (Sr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island), who needed three sets to defeat Karie Schlukebir, 7-6 (8), 5-7, 6-4, at the No. 5 position.
Among the Hoosiers’ singles victories, No. 39 Dora Vastag came from behind to squeak by No. 70 Lindsay Williams (Sr., Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Grove), 3-6, 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4), at the No. 1 spot.
Ohio State returns home for the first time in nearly two months for a pair of weekend matches against Purdue at 11 a.m. April 10 and against No. 25 Illinois at 11 a.m. April 11. Both matches will be played at the Stickney Tennis Center.
