Ohio State Knocks off Iowa, 5-2 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team jumped out in front 4-0, then cruised to a 5-2 victory over Iowa Friday at the Stickney Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio. With the win, the Buckeyes improved to 9-12 overall and 4-5 in the Big Ten, while Iowa fell to 4-5 in the Big Ten and 11-8 overall. Ohio State is 6-2 at home this season.
Getting victories from the duo of Erica Fisk (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Jackie Leskovar (Sr., Cambridge, Ontario/N.C. State) at the No. 1 position and from Emily DeCamilla (Jr., Sacramento, Calif./Maryland) Lindsey Adams (Jr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) at No. 3, the Buckeyes improved to 8-0 in doubles at home. Adams and DeCamilla earned the first victory, 8-5, over Christa Glynn and Hilary Tyler, then Fisk and Leskovar clinched the doubles point with an 8-5 win over Megan Racette and Hilary Mintz.
The win for Fisk was the 77th of her career, leaving her tied with Susan Mitchell (1987-90) for ninth all-time in doubles victories at Ohio State.
The Buckeyes’ fast start continued in singles action as Leskovar swept Glynn, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 3 position and Adams did the same to Deni Alexandrova, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 5. With the score 3-0 in favor of Ohio State, DeCamilla earned the match-clinching victory at the No. 4 position with a 6-4, 6-4 defeat of Anastasia Zhukova. Playing at No. 6, Lindsay Bryan (Jr., New Orleans, La./Ursuline Academy) completed the scoring for the Buckeyes, beating Tyler, 7-5, 6-2.
Ohio State concludes the regular season with a match against Minnesota at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the Stickney Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio.
