No. 11 Northwestern Tops Ohio State, 6-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team concluded the road portion of its schedule with a 6-1 loss to No. 11 Northwestern Sunday at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center in Evanston, Ill. With the loss, the Buckeyes’ record dropped to 8-12 overall and 3-5 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats improved to 17-4 and 6-1.
The Wildcats started the match with a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point, 2-1. The Buckeyes’ lone victory came at the No. 3 position, where the duo of Jackie Leskovar (Sr., Cambridge, Ontario/N.C. State) and Meredith Vincent (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Virginia Tech) topped Andrea Yung and Connie Chiang, 8-2.
In singles, Lindsay Bryan picked up a win for the Buckeyes, topping Ruth Barnes, 8-2, at No. 6.
The Wildcats clinched the match by winning at the other five positions. At the No. 1 spot, No. 3-ranked Christelle Grier beat No. 98 Lindsay Williams (Sr., Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Grove), 6-3, 6-1, while No. 85 Jessica Rush topped Leskovar at No. 2, 6-1, 6-3. Also winning for Northwestern was Alexis Prousis, over Emily DeCamilla (Jr., Sacramento, Calif./Maryland), 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3, Jamie Peisel against Lindsey Adams (Jr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island), 6-3, 6-3, at No. 4, and Yung over Vincent, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 5.
Ohio State returns home to conclude the regular season with a pair of matches next weekend. The Buckeyes face Iowa at 2:30 p.m. Friday and Minnesota at 11:30 a.m. April 25. Both matches will be played at the Stickney Tennis Center.
