Buckeyes Fall to No. 19 Michigan, 7-0 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team was swept by No. 19 Michigan, 7-0, Sunday at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. The loss was the first in conference play for the Buckeyes, who fell to 7-8 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten. Michigan (12-1, 3-0 Big Ten) improved its home record to 8-0.
The Buckeyes lost the doubles point for only the sixth time this season. Buckeye duo Lindsay Williams (Sr., Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Grove) and Meaghan Colville (Sr., Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) dropped a 9-8 decision at the No. 2 position to No. 32 ranked tandem Kim Plaushines and Debra Streifler to provide the winning margin for the Wolverines, who also got a victory at No. 1 from No. 30 Michelle DaCosta and Kara Delicata over Erica Fisk (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Jackie Leskovar (Sr., Cambridge, Ontario/N.C. State), 8-4.
In singles the Buckeyes lost a pair of three-set matches as Fisk fell to No. 72 Elizabeth Exon, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 1-0 (7), at the No. 2 position and Michigan’s Leanne Rutherford topped Leskovar, 5-7, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 4.
Ohio State concludes its 10-match road trip with a visit to Indiana at 10 a.m. April 3 in Bloomington, Ind. The Buckeyes return home to face Purdue at 11 a.m. April 10 at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center in Columbus, Ohio.
