UNLV Tops Ohio State, 5-2 – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team concluded its non-conference schedule with a 5-2 loss to UNLV Tuesday at the Fertitta Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Playing their seventh-consecutive road match, the No. 52 Buckeyes (6-7, 1-0 Big Ten) lost their third in a row, while the No. 51 Lady Rebels (10-3) won for the sixth-consecutive time during their 10-match home stand.
The Buckeyes got the match started with two victories in doubles play to earn the doubles point for the eighth time this season. Ohio State duo Erica Fisk (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Jackie Leskovar (Sr., Cambridge, Ontario/N.C. State) beat Anne Claire Ortiz-Luis and Agniezska Abram, 8-5, at No. 1, while Meaghan Colville (Sr., Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) and Lindsay Williams (Sr., Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Grove) topped Lady Rebels Gyorgyi Zsiros and Claire Smith at No. 2, 9-7.
In singles, Fisk finished out a perfect individual day by sweeping Abram in straight sets, 6-0, 7-6, at the No. 2 position. The Lady Rebels won the match, however, with victories at the five other singles spots, including Zsiros’ 6-3, 7-5 victory at the No. 1 spot over No. 70 Williams.
Ohio State returns to Big Ten action this weekend with a pair of matches in Michigan. The Buckeyes take on Michigan State at 10 a.m. Saturday in East Lansing and No. 19 Michigan at 11 a.m. Sunday in Ann Arbor.
