Weather Causes Cancellation of Final Day of Buckeye Invitational – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The third and final day of the Ohio State softball team’s Buckeye Invitational has been called off due to cold and windy conditions expected in Columbus Sunday. Ohio State concludes the tournament with a 3-0 record, while other competing teams included Michigan State (2-0), Oakland (2-1), Loyola-Chicago (1-2), Northern Illinois (0-2) and Robert Morris (0-3).
Ohio State junior Ashley Cutcliff (Zionsville, Ind./University of Florida) and freshman Jamee Juarez (La Puente, Calif./Wilson) were named to the all-tournament team. Cutcliff batted .833 (5-for-6) during the weekend with three RBI, while Juarez batted .556 (5-for-9) with a double, triple and four RBI. Juarez also went 1-0 on the mound with a 0.00 ERA in nine innings pitched.
Other members of the all-tournament team included Jessica Beech and Natalie Furrow of Michigan State, Nicole Marzano and Dana Blugerman of Oakland, Becky Marx of Loyola-Chicago, Shelby Bernard of Northern Illinois and Kali Byers of Robert Morris.
Ohio State (15-7 overall, 0-0 Big Ten) departs Monday for a five-day, five-game spring break trip to California, where the Buckeyes will face St. Mary’s Tuesday, No. 13 Pacific Wednesday and No. 15 Fresno State Friday.
