Ohio State Beaten, 7-0, by TCU – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team continued to struggle on the road, losing 7-0 to the TCU Horned Frogs Saturday at the Bayard H. Freidman Center. No. 40 ranked TCU (8-6, 0-1 C-USA) ran its winning streak to six matches as the No. 42 Buckeyes (6-6, 1-0 Big Ten) suffered their second consecutive defeat to begin the second half of a 10-match road trip.
TCU earned the first point of the match by taking two of three doubles matches. Buckeye duo Lindsey Adams (Jr., Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) and Meredith Vincent (Jr., Cinciannati, Ohio/Virginia Tech) were beaten by Paige Brown and Gloriann Lopez, 8-2, at the No. 3 position, but Ohio State’s Meaghan Colville (Sr., Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) and Lindsay Williams (Sr., Beverly Hills, Mich./Birmingham Grove) topped Paty Aburto and Karla Mancinas, 8-4, at No. 2, to tie. The Horned Frogs then claimed the point with an 8-4 victory by No. 33 Saber Pierce and Ana Cetnik over Erica Fisk (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) and Jackie Leskovar (Sr., Cambridge, Ontario/N.C. State) at No. 1.
In singles, the Horned Frogs went ahead, 3-0, when No. 39 Aburto beat No. 57 Williams, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1, and Karla Mancinas swept Adams, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 5. Lopez’s victory over Kristin Messmer (Fr., Lutherville, Md./McDonogh) at No. 6 (6-2, 6-2) proved to be the clinching match.
Ohio State returns to action at 2 p.m. Tuesday against the UNLV Lady Rebels in Las Vegas, Nevada.
