Postgame Notes
– Ohio State’s Megan Schwab was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate for the second time this season, duplicating the feat she first accomplished in the Buckeyes’ win at Arizona State Feb. 15.
– Freshman Nycole Koyano extended her team-leading hitting streak to six games, while junior Natalie Hales hit safely in her fifth consecutive game.
– Ohio State’s seven-run first inning marked the most runs the Buckeyes have scored in one inning this season.
– This season marks Ohio State’s second appearance at the Winthrop Invitational, with the Buckeyes’ previous appearance being in March of 2000. However, Friday marked the first-ever meeting between Winthrop and Ohio State in softball.
– Winthrop had won eight consecutive games prior to falling twice Friday. The Eagles lost to North Carolina State earlier in the day.
– The game was delayed for one hour and 15 minutes due to a backup in the schedule throughout the day.
