Postgame Notes
– Ohio State’s totals of 14 runs and 19 hits tops the team’s previous season highs of nine runs and 12 hits vs. Dayton March 6. The Buckeyes’ eight doubles in the game also topped their previous season high of four doubles set vs. Dayton.
– Ohio State’s 14 runs and 19 hits also ties the team’s season high from all of last season in those two categories, both of which were set in a 14-0 win vs. Morehead State, March 16 in Columbus.
– Ohio State has collected 42 hits in its last three games and has won all three by at least eight runs.
– With three hits vs. N.C. A&T, Nycole Koyano extended her hitting streak to a team-best five consecutive games. It marked her fourth multi-hit game of the season, all of which have come in the last five games to raise her average from .105 (as of Feb. 28) to its current level at .343, which ranks third on the team.
– Chelsea Baker has now allowed just one earned run in 20.1 innings pitched this season. At the plate, her three base hits marked her first career multi-hit game.
– In addition to pitching the final two innings for Ohio State, Andrea Tribuzi went 1-for-1 at the plate and collected her first career RBI.
– Ohio State’s Stacy Hibma collected her first two hits of the season, both of which were doubles, and her first RBI of the season.
– With the 2-for-4 effort, Beth McAbier raised her season batting average to .283 (4-for-14), with all four of those hits being doubles.
– With the win Friday, Ohio State leads the all-time series vs. North Carolina A&T, 2-0. These two teams last met March 18, 2000 here at the Winthrop Invitational, with Ohio State winning 11-1.
