Buckeyes defeat Cincinnati, 167-92 – Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team continued its season with a 167-92 victory over the University of Cincinnati Saturday at the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center. The Buckeyes won 11 out of 14 events in the meet.
Griet Buelens (Fr., Belgium/Ursulinen Mechelen) won the 100- and 1,000-yard freestyle, the 200-yard butterfly and had was on the winning relay team for the 800-yard freestyle relay. Buelens also met the 200-yard butterfly NCAA B time with a finishing time of 2:01.76. Nicole Maglich (Jr., Sarasota, Fla/Sarasota) took both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events, while Rebekah Rychvalsky (So., Sydney, Austrailia/Castle Hill) won the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke for the second week in a row.
Katie Kolles (Sr., Edina, Minn./Edina) won the 100-yard backstroke for the second straight meet, and Gulsah Gunenc (So., Edirne, Turkey/Edirne Anatolian) won in the 100-yard butterfly.
“We did a really nice job tonight,” Jeanne Fleck, women’s head coach, said. “We moved people around to see what we had, and it turned out really nice. It was a nice meet to be able to do that. Griet was hands down the best swimmer of the night for the team, she made an NCAA B cut on the 1,000-yard freestyle and I am really pleased with that. We are making a lot of progress as we go through the season. Our backups did a nice job tonight and that was excellent. It was just a really fun meet.”
The Buckeye’s will travel to the University of Michigan on Nov. 12, then return to play host to the Miami RedHawks Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center.
