Buckeyes defeat Denison, 169-93, Remain Perfect at Home – Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team continued its unbeaten streak at home Friday with a 169-93 win over Denison. Winning 13 of 14 events, the women dominated almost every race, only finishing second in the 50-yard freestyle by a tenth of a second.
During the meet the women had many multiple-event winners. Nicole Maglich (Jr., Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota) and Griet Buelens (Fr., Kapelle, Belgium/Ursulinen Mechelen) each won in three events in the meet. Maglich won the 1,000- and 200-freestyle and the 200-yard backstroke. Buelens won in the 200-yard butterfly and the 100- and 500-yard freestyle events.
The Buckeyes also had two double event winners in Gulsah Gunenc (So., Edirne, Turkey/Edirne Anatolian) and Rebekah Rychvalsky (So., Sydney, Australia/Castle Hill). Gunenc took the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley and Rychvalsky took both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. Stephanie Fennell (So., Campbellville, Ontarion/Milton District) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.94, almost a second ahead of the second-place finisher.
“We really came back in the second half of the meet,” Jeanne Fleck, women’s head coach said. “We did not start off that great in the first half, but in the second we really came through and got it back together. That is really good for our team.”
The Buckeyes return to action with a road trip to Oxford, Ohio for the Miami Invite Dec. 3-5.
