Women’s Swimming & Diving Overwhelm Ohio, 171-72 – Ohio State Buckeyes

The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team swept all 13 events to defeat Ohio 171-72 Saturday at the Mike Peppe Aquatic Center, improving its dual-meet record to 5-1. Three Buckeyes were double-event winners, along with sweeping first, second and third place in two events.
Katie Severson (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota West) won both the 50-yard freestyle with a season best time of 24.47 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.36. Nicole Maglich (So., Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota) won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:19.64 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.62. Also a double-event winner, Deanna Strunk (So., West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.74 and the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.54.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Katie Kolles (Jr., Edina, Minn./Edina) and Ashley Barnes (Jr., Lexington, Ky./Dunbar) backed Severson in the 1-2-3 finish, along with Rebekah Rychvalsky (Fr., Sydney, Australia/Castle Hill) leading Liz Osterer (Fr., Nepean, Ontario/Sir Robert Borden) and Stephanie Raezer (Sr., Newark, Del./Glasgow) in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Julie Broms (Fr., Springfield, Ill./North Central[Ind.]) took home her eighth first-place finish of the season in the 3-meter dive and Ashley Bourland (Fr., Conroe, Texas/Montgomery) placed first in the 1-meter dive. The diving squad swept first through fourth places in both events. The Buckeyes travel to Bloomington, Ind. for a double dual-meet against Indiana and Southern Illinois Saturday at the Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center.
