Randy Monahan Named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Randy Monahan (Elizabethtown, Pa.) received his second career Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor Jan. 14 for his performance at the Windy City Invitational Jan. 10 in Chicago. Monahan helped lead top-ranked Ohio Sate to its second consecutive Windy City title by placing first in the all-around with a score of 54.150. He was just .35 points shy of his career high (54.500), which he set while claiming the all-around title at the 2003 Big Ten Championships.
At the Windy City, Monahan also captured the rings and high bar titles, posting a 9.50 and 9.65, respectively. Monahan’s scores surpassed his career highs of 9.450 on rings and 9.475 on high bar from a year ago. He recorded those marks in the 2003 NCAA Championships.
Monahan last was honored with conference gymnast of the week accolades after the Windy City meet last season.
