Women’s Tennis Finishes on High Note at St. Mary’s Fall Classic – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s tennis junior Lindsey Adams (Mercer Island, Wash.) was victorious in the championship match in Flight Seven on the final day of competition at the St. Mary’s Fall Classic in Knoxville, Tenn. Adams defeated Tanya Markovic of North Carolina in three sets to take the title.
To reach the final Adams defeated Texas A&M’s Seva Iwinski in the first round and Tennessee’s Erin Cohn in the second round.
Also on Sunday Kristin Messmer (Fr./Lutherville, Md.) won her consolation match in Flight Seven as she defeated Cohn to claim third place. Other Buckeyes winning consolation matches on Sunday were Jackie Leskovar (Sr./Cambridge, Ontario) in Flight One, Lindsay Williams (Sr./Beverly Hills, Mich.) in Flight Two and Emily DeCamilla (Jr./Sacramento, Calif.) in Flight Four.
The Buckeyes resume fall tournament play next week in Philadelphia, Pa., where the University of Pennsylvania hosts the Cissie Leary Invitational. Matches begin on Friday, Sept. 26, with play continuing throughout the weekend.
