Women’s Tennis Wraps Up First Day of Competition at St. Mary’s Fall Classic – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The first day of competition ended at the St. Mary’s Women’s Tennis Fall Classic in Knoxville, Tenn., with four Ohio State players advancing to the semifinal round in singles. In doubles, two Buckeye teams will compete for flight titles Saturday. Singles competition continues Saturday with the semifinal rounds in all eight flights.
Sonia Ruzimovsky (Fr./Brooklyn, N.Y.), Kristin Messmer (Fr./Lutherville, Md.), Lindsey Adams (Jr./Mercer Island, Wash.) and Lindsay Bryan (Jr./New Orleans, La.) won their quarterfinal matches to advance in singles. In doubles, the duos of Ruzimovsky and Lindsay Williams (Sr./Beverly Hills, Mich.) and Emily DeCamilla (Jr./Sacramento, Calif.) and Anna Volberg (Fr./Toledo, Ohio) reached the final match with victories in the quarterfinals and semifinals.
The St. Mary’s Fall Classic opens the Buckeyes’ 2003-04 schedule.
