18th Annual Ohio State Pro Am Classic A Success – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Alumni from the Ohio State men’s and women’s golf programs returned to the OSU Scarlet Course Monday for the 18th Annual Buckeye Pro-Am Classic. According to Denny Hoobler, OSU assistant athletics director for development, early estimates of the event raised approximately 70,000 this year and will benefit the Ohio State Golf Scholarship Fund as well as course improvements.
Former Buckeyes Suzie Green-Roebuck (1986-89) and Chris Smith (1988-91) co-chaired the 2003 tournament.
More than 1.6 million has been raised since the Pro-Am’s inception with most directed toward endowed scholarships. The remaining proceeds have been used for improvements to the OSU Scarlet and Gray courses.
Other Ohio State alumni joining Green-Roebuck and Smith were: Craig Kanada (1989-91), Chris Perry (1981-84), Ed Sneed (1965-66), Gary Nicklaus (1988-91), Steve Runge (1990-92), Joey Sindelar (1978-81), Chris Wollmann (1994-97), Cathy Kratzert-Gerring (1981-83), Lisa Strom (1998-00), Amy Langhals (1994-97), Summerset Lovett (1996-99) and Natalie Aber (2000-02).
Sixteen groups participated in the 2003 Buckeye Pro Am. Cathy Gerring led her group, which consisted of Bill Schenck, Denny Gump, Dave Chicarelli, Jack Gayheart, to the title with a mark of 24-under.
Four groups tied for second place, shooting 18-under.
