OSU Cross Country Head Coach Runs at United States Track and Field Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – Ohio State cross country head coach and track and field distance coach Robert Gary (Ohio State, 1996) competed in the 2003 United States Track and Field Championships Thursday in the qualifying heats of the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. Gary, competing for Team Adidas, clocked an 8:30.62 to top the second of two flights. His time bests teammate Thomas Kloos (8:30.74) and reigning NCAA Champion Dan Lincoln of Arkansas (8:30.75) by slightly more than .10.
Also on Thursday, Ohio State senior Krista Keir (Westerville, Ohio) participated in the women’s discus throw championship as she claimed a Top 15 standing with her first attempt of 166-8. Nike competitor Aretha Hill won the event with a 209-11, also coming in her first throw.
The championships continue Friday as senior Joel Brown (Baltimore, Md.) will compete in the preliminary rounds of the men’s 110-meter hurdles, while fellow senior Rob Myers (Rushville, Ohio) will run in the semifinals of the men’s 1,500 meters.
