Three Buckeyes Place in Finals at NCAA Track and Field Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The final day of the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded Saturday at California State University – Sacramento’s Hornet Stadium. A trio of Ohio State athletes competed in the finals of their events as junior thrower Dan Taylor (Middlefield, Ohio) led the way by placing eighth in the men’s discus with a heave of 182-8. Taylor, who placed third in Friday’s shot put final, tallied outdoor All-American status in an event for the second-straight day.
Maryland natives Joel Brown (Baltimore, Md.) and Shayla Moore (Jessup, Md.) also competed in championship rounds Saturday as Brown clocked a 13.87 to take ninth place in the men’s 110-meter hurdles, while Moore posted a 42-1.50 effort in her first attempt to claim 10th in the women’s triple jump.
Overall, Taylor, Brown and junior Drew Carter, who placed seventh in the men’s long jump final Friday, helped the OSU men’s squad to a 32nd place standing in team competition.
