Men’s Gymnastics Competes in National Qualifier – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Six members of the Ohio State men’s gymnastics team will compete in the USA Gymnastics National Qualifier Saturday in Keen Arena on the campus of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Buckeyes scheduled to compete in the all-around the qualifier are Raj Bhavsar (Sr., Houston, Texas), Jamey Houle (Jr., Enfield, Conn.), Randy Monahan (So., Elizabethtown, Pa.) and Ronnie Ferris (Fr., Austintown, Ohio). Ryan Schwartzkopf (Sr., Columbus, Ind.) and Eric Van Sickle (Jr., Hilliard, Ohio) will compete on pommel horse.
Bhavsar and former Buckeye, two-time Olympian and five-time national champion Blaine Wilson will compete in the qualifier even though they have already pre-qualified for the national championships.
The top 13 all-around athletes will advance to the senior division of the U.S. Gymnastics Championships June 19-21 in Milwaukee, Wis., which, in turn, qualifies athletes to the USA National Team (14 members). This year the national championships also will serve as a part of the trials process for selecting the USA World Championships Team (six members).
