Women’s Tennis Loses Battle To No.14 Kentucky, 4-3 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 51 Ohio State women’s tennis team was defeated by No. 14 Kentucky, 4-3, Wednesday at the Jesse Owens West Recreational Center. Ohio State has dropped three-consecutive matches and six of its last seven to fall to 10-8 overall while remaining 4-2 in Big Ten play.
The Buckeyes swept all three doubles matches to capture the doubles point for the fifteenth time in eighteen matches this season. The Buckeye duo of Sadhaf Pervez (Sr., Warren, N.J.) and Lindsay Williams (Jr., Beverly Hills, Mich) defeated Sarah Witten and Amy Trefethen, 9-8. Erica Fisk (Jr., Indianapolis, Ind.) and partner Jackie Leskovar (Jr., Cambridge, Ontario) topped Nathalie Roels and Shannon Stafford in an 8-2 victory. Meaghan Colville (Jr., Toronto, Ontario) and Lindsey Adams (So., Mercer Island, Wash.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 decision over Kentucky’s Leigh Bradwell and Jill Buckley.
The Buckeyes picked up their singles points at the No. 3 and 4 positions. Ohio State’s Jackie Leskovar beat Buckley 6-3, 7-6 (4) and Lindsay Williams cruised past Stafford 6-1, 6-1. This is the twelfth match this season to finish in a 4-3 score. The Buckeyes are 7-5 when the match is decided by one point.
Ohio State will begin a Big Ten weekend with Wisconsin at 9 a.m. Saturday and No. 19 Northwestern at 11 a.m. Sunday. All matches are scheduled for the Stickney Tennis Center.
