Women’s Tennis Tops Big Ten Foe Wisconsin, 6-1 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team swept the singles competition to beat Big Ten foe Wisconsin, 6-1, Saturday at the Stickney Tennis Center. The win improves the No. 51 Buckeyes to 11-8 overall and 5-2 in the Big Ten. The Badgers fall to 7-11 on the year and 2-5 in league play.
The Buckeyes lost the doubles point for just the fourth time this season, as the Badgers won at all three positions. The match at No. 1 was close, as UW’s Linde Mues and Lindsay Martin topped the Buckeyes’ Sadhaf Pervez (Sr., Warren, N.J.) and Lindsay Williams (Jr., Beverly Hills, Mich.), 9-8.
Ohio State rebounded to sweep all six singles matches, including five in straight sets, for the win. The Buckeyes’ Lindsay Bryan (So., New Orleans, La.) won the only three-set match, as she defeated UW’s Lexi Goldin, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, at No. 6. No. 46-ranked Pervez improved to 17-2 at No. 1 singles this spring after defeating Mues in straight sets. Erica Fisk (Jr., Indianapolis, Ind.) beat Shana McElroy at No. 2, while Jackie Leskovar (Jr., Cambridge, Ontario) topped Katie McGaffigan at the No. 3 spot. OSU’s Williams defeated Martin at No. 4 and Emily DeCamilla (So., Sacramento, Calif.) topped UW’s Lara Vojnov at the No. 5 position.
The Buckeyes will return to action at 11 a.m. Sunday when they play host to No. 19 Northwestern at the Stickney Tennis Center. In the event of inclement weather, the match will be moved indoors to Jesse Owens West Recreation Center.
