Taylor Honored as Big Ten Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio-Ohio State junior thrower Dan Taylor (Middlefield, Ohio/Berkshire) was named Tuesday as the Big Ten Conference Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week following his school record-setting and first place performance in the hammer throw in last week’s Arizona State Invitational. Taylor posted a 204-11 in the event as he topped the former mark of 201-4 set by Justin Cavinee in 2001.
The award is Taylor’s fourth Big Ten weekly honor of 2003 as he captured first place in multiple events for the seventh time this season adding a 179-8 first place effort in the discus event.
Taylor, who was crowned Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Year following conference titles in both the weight throw and shot put at the 2003 Big Ten Championships, has qualified for the 2003 NCAA Regional Championships which will be held at Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium May 30 and 31.
