Women’s Tennis Tops Indiana, 5-2 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team defeated Indiana Sunday at the Jesse Owens West Recreational Center in Columbus, Ohio. Coach Chuck Merzbacher recorded win No. 100 as the Buckeyes (10-5) join Northwestern at the top of the Big Ten standings with a 4-0 conference record. Sadhaf Pervez (Warren, N.J.) remained undefeated at No. 1 singles (15-0).
Ohio State captured the doubles point for the 13th time in 15 matches as the Buckeyes swept Nos. 1, 2 and 3 doubles. The Ohio State duo of Lindsay Williams (Jr., Beverly Hills, Mich.) and Pervez defeated def. Martina Grimm and Sarah Batty, 8-3. Jackie Leskovar (Jr., Cambridge, Ontario) and Erica Fisk (Jr., Indianapolis, Ind.) remained undeated against Big Ten opponents (4-0) by topping Hoosiers Linda Tran and Dominika Walterova, 8-3. Lindsay Bryan (So., New Orleans, La.) and Meaghan Colville (Jr., Toronto, Ontario) won their first match together over Indiana’s Jessica Groth and Sophie Rychlik, 8-5.
With the 1-0 lead, Ohio State picked up two quick points at Nos. 5 and 6 as Emily DeCamilla (So., Sacramento, Calif.) and Bryan posted 6-0, 6-0, victories over Rychlik and Groth, respectively. No. 53 Pervez clinched the match by downing Tran, 6-2, 6-0. Leskovar posted the fifth point by defeating Walterova, 6-1, 7-5.
Ohio State will continue Big Ten play on the road against Purdue 1 p.m. April 5 in West Lafayette, Ind., and Illinois 11 a.m. in Champaign, Ill.
