Women’s Tennis Defeated by Notre Dame, 5-2 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team was upset by Notre Dame, 5-2, Saturday at the Jesse Owens West Recreational Center in Columbus, Ohio. Sadhaf Pervez (Warren, N.J.) remained undefeated at No. 1 singles (13-0). The Buckeyes dropped the doubles point for the second time this season. The No. 35 Buckeyes fall to 9-5 (3-0 Big Ten) on the season as No. 48 Notre Dame improves to 11-7.
Ohio State lost the doubles point for the second time in 14 matches this season. The Buckeye duo of Lindsay Williams (Jr., Beverly Hills, Mich.) and Pervez recorded the only Ohio State doubles victory by defeating Katie Cunha and Jennifer Smith, 8-6. Jackie Leskovar (Jr., Cambridge, Ontario) and Erica Fisk (Jr., Indianapolis, Ind.) failed to clinch the doubles point in a hard fought tiebreaker loss to the Fighting Irish tandem of Lauren Connelly and Alicia Salas, 9-8.
Ohio State picked up its only points at Nos. 1 and 4 singles. No. 53 Pervez upset No. 33 Caylan Leslie, 7-5, 6-2. Leskovar recorded the Buckeyes second point by downing Kristina Stastny, 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (3).
Ohio State will return to Big Ten action at 11 a.m. Sunday vs. Indiana at the Jesse Owens West Recreational Center in Columbus, Ohio.
