Competition Complete at Big Ten Men’s Gymnastics Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – The 2003 Big Ten Men’s Gymnastics Championships were completed with the individual event championships taking place Saturday at St. John Arena. Randy Monahan (So., Elizabethtown, Pa) was named the 2003 Big Ten Gymnast of the Year after placing first in the all-around competition Friday. Senior Raj Bhavsar (Houston, Texas) scored a 9.275 to placed first on parallel bars in his last routine in St. John Arena.
By placing in the Top 6 in an event during Friday’s team and all-around championships, six Buckeyes competed in the event finals. On floor, Monahan scored a 9.325 to place third and Dick Huntwork (Sr., Pickerington, Ohio) scored a 9.1 to place fifth. Cody Trobaugh (So., Dallas, Texas) placed fourth on rings by posting a 9.4. Monahan and Bhavsar followed by scoring a fifth place 9.325 and a sixth place 9.3, respectively. Bhavsar took third place on vault with a 9.3 and Huntwork placed eighth with a 9.025. On parallel bars, Ronald Ferris (Fr., Austintown, Ohio) placed sixth with an 8.7 and Kerry Adderly (So., Orlando, Fla.) landed in ninth place with an 8.45. Monahan took second place with a 9.375 on high bar.
Ohio State’s next and final meet is the NCAA championships April 11-13 in Philadelphia, Pa.
