Women’s Tennis Drops Close Match to Central Florida, 4-3 – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team fell to Central Florida, 4-3, Wednesday in Orlando, Fla. No. 53 Sadhaf Pervez (Warren, N.J.) remained undefeated at No. 1 singles (13-0) and the Buckeyes clinched the doubles point for the 12th time in 13 matches. The No. 35 Buckeyes fall to 9-4 (3-0 Big Ten) on the season as Central Florida improves to 9-6.
Ohio State was awarded the doubles point for the 12th time in 13 matches this season. At the No. 1 spot, the Buckeye duo of Lindsay Williams (Jr., Beverly Hills, Mich.) and Pervez defeated Anna Westin and Ola Luczak, 8-2. Erica Fisk (Jr., Indianapolis, Ind.) and Jackie Leskovar (Jr., Cambridge, Ontario) defeated the Central Florida tandem of Pamela Fernandez and Julie Pecastaing, 8-6.
With the doubles point tallied, Ohio State fell short and only recorded wins at No. 1 and 6 singles. Pervez defeated Weston, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles and extended her win streak to 13. At No. 6, Meaghan Colville (Jr., Toronto, Ontario) won her first singles win of the regular season over Amira Samara, 6-4, 6-0. The Buckeyes dropped two close matches at No. 3 and 5 which would have clinched the match. At No. 5, Emily DeCamilla (So., Sacramento, Calif.) won the first set, 6-3, fell 6-0 in the second set and the third set went to an 11-9 tiebreaker won by Central Florida’s Ola Luczak.
Ohio State will return home to face Notre Dame March 29 and Indiana March 30.
