Natalia Diea Qualifies for 2003 NCAA Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, OH – Natalia Diea (Sr., Austin, Texas/University of Texas) finished third in the 3-meter on the first day of the NCAA Zone C Diving Qualifying meet in Oxford, Ohio, as the senior qualified for the 2003 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The competition continued Saturday, but the finish Friday was enough to place the her into the women’s national championships for all diving events.
Diea finished with a score of 469.40, behind Lisette Plancken (474.10) and Nancilia Underwood (472.35) of Iowa. With he bronze, she will compete in the 1- and 3-meter as well as the platform dive at the 2003 NCAA meet, March 20-22, in Auburn, Ala. The three-time conference platform champion was named second team All-Big Ten at the 2003 Big Ten Championships, Feb. 19-22, in West Lafeyette, Ind., after posting three Top 10 finishes, including a second-place finish in the platform.
